Establishing milestones at the global level

Boasting the highest per capita income in the world, the State of Qatar commands the small Qatar Peninsula on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It shares a land border with Saudi Arabia to the south, and its area covers some 11,600 sq. km.

Qatar's capital is Doha, which is home to over 80 per cent of its population, set at 2.9 million in 2020, according to recent census figures and projections.
